Don’t take a chance losing your computer files. Start now creating a back up procedure to safeguard your data. Purchase an external hard drive device –it will be a good investment!
Here are some tips:
- Purchase a reliable one by sticking with well known brands like: Maxtor, Seagate, Western Digital, etc. These companies have long established histories.
- Manual or Automatic Backup? Not all units come equipped to automatically back up your data. Make sure to read the information and determine if it will fit your needs.
- Capacity: 250 gig, 500 gig, 1 Terabyte? If you are storing pictures, videos, music- purchase a unit with a lot of capacity for storage.
- Price: These drives range in price from $80 and up. Price will depend on the brand, size and if it performs automatic backups.
Note: These units can fail so if the data is extremely important — take precautions by having an alternate backup plan! There are companies that provide data retrieval however it can be extremely expensive and there might not be a guarantee of successfully retrieving your data.
